Sauna Under the Stars: Full Moons, Shooting Stars & Winter Nights at The Forest Sauna

There’s something different about the forest after dark.

During the day, the trees, paths and clearing around The Forest Sauna feel familiar. But once the sun goes down and the darkness settles in, everything changes. The forest becomes quieter, the air feels different and suddenly you find yourself looking up.

This autumn and winter, we’re celebrating those darker evenings with Sauna Under the Stars – a collection of special evening sauna experiences inspired by the moon, the seasons and the night sky.

From full moon evenings to meteor showers, each event offers a chance to step away from the noise of everyday life, spend some time in the forest and experience The Forest Sauna after dark.

The Full Moon

For centuries, the full moon has been a natural marker in the changing seasons and has been associated with reflection, renewal and letting go.

You don’t need to follow any particular ritual or belief to enjoy a full moon sauna. There’s simply something lovely about slowing down, stepping outside into the cool night air and seeing the moon through the trees.

Our full moon evenings combine the warmth of the sauna with the refreshing cold of the forest, with cold plunges and jungle showers available for those who fancy a little more of a wake-up. There’s also time to simply sit, breathe and enjoy the stillness.

And each full moon has its own seasonal character.

The Hunter’s Moon - Monday 26th October

The October full moon, traditionally known as the Hunter’s Moon, is associated with preparation for the winter ahead.

Spiritually, it is a time for focus, strength and inner work – a chance to take stock, recognise what is complete and let go of what is no longer needed.

With Samhain approaching, it can be a particularly meaningful time to pause and reflect on what is changing, gather your energy and make space for what comes next.

The Beaver Moon - Tuesday 24th November

November brings the Beaver Moon, traditionally associated with preparing for the colder months.

Its themes of stability, security and persistence make it a natural time to think about what supports us and what we want to nurture through the winter.

As the days grow shorter, the Beaver Moon offers an opportunity to slow down, conserve your energy and focus on the things that sustain you.

The Cold Moon - Wednesday 23rd December

December’s Cold Moon is the final full moon of the year, arriving in the depths of winter and often close to the Winter Solstice.

It is associated with dedication, peace, prosperity and strength – but perhaps most importantly, it gives us a reason to pause.

December can be one of the busiest times of the year, so there is something rather lovely about stepping away from the Christmas rush for an evening in the forest. Warm up in the sauna, step out into the cold night air and take a moment to enjoy the quiet.

Then, look up…

The moon isn't the only reason to spend an evening beneath the night sky.

On 14 December, we’ll be gathering for something a little different: The Geminid meteor shower.

The Geminids are one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year, with bright meteors streaking across the sky. And unlike some celestial events, you don't need specialist equipment to enjoy them – just a dark sky, a comfortable spot and a little patience.

After some time in the sauna, wrap up warm, head outside and look upwards. Between the heat of the sauna and the crisp December air, settle in and see how many shooting stars you can spot.

It’s a wonderfully simple way to step away from the Christmas bustle and spend an evening doing something completely different.

A different kind of night out

Sauna Under the Stars isn't about having to follow a particular wellness routine or believe in the spiritual meaning of the moon.

It’s about making time to slow down.

It’s about being somewhere dark enough to see the stars. About feeling the contrast between the heat of the sauna and the cold night air. About sitting quietly beneath the moon, talking with friends, or simply enjoying a little time to yourself.

And perhaps that's the real magic of a sauna after dark.

Heat. Cold. Forest. Moonlight. Shooting stars.

Come and experience The Forest Sauna in a whole new light.
