THE FOREST SAUNA
Nestled in an idyllic woodland clearing, home of Happy River Retreat, The Forest Sauna & Plunge is a little slice of tree-encircled heaven. Far from the madding crowd, it offers a space to relax and unwind in nature, whilst enjoying the benefits of traditional, wood-fired sauna & cold water therapy. You can choose from a host of hour long slots (every session is private and can fit up to 8 people) , one of our special event pop-ups (launching in June), as the perfect quirky gift or even become a regular by joining our Forest Sauna Club, which will be opening for memberships in July.
With a panoramic picture-window looking out to the forest beyond, the flickering flames of the fire & the steam rising from the stove (known as löyly to the Finnish), it doesn't get much more idyllic! With a dedicated changing space, jungle shower & cold plunge, you’ll leave this little sanctuary feeling refreshed & rejuvenated in body, mind & soul.
BOOK YOUR SAUNA
The sauna is bookable in 65-minute private sauna time slots. Each slot can acomodate a group of up to 8 people, though we often have solo adventurers, couples and small groups enjoying the experience together. We have slots throughout the day to fit with your schedule, including twice weekly early-bird & night-owl times. The price is for thewhole session (not per person), making it a super affordable way to indulge.

We will also be hosting all kinds of special experiences & pop up events from June 2024 onwards, including Soul Sauna (Sauna, Meditation & Fire Circle), Sauna & Breakfast, Sauna under the Stars, Sauna & Massage & all manner of others, which can also make the perfect as a gift for someone who prefers experiences to things!

The Forest Sauna Club is our membership option launching in July 2024, giving a chance to connect with other sauna lovers, save on regular sauna for health and allow members to be the first to get a chance to book onto special events.

GLOWING HEALTH
Sauna has long been revered for it's health benefits. Most people think of Finland when it comes to saunas. In fact, the word sauna is Finnish and means 'bathhouse', but there is also some evidence that the ancient Mayans were the first known people to recognize the benefit of saunas, about 3,000 years ago.
From improving circulation & heart health, detoxifying skin & deep tissue, reducing stress, recovering after excercise or getting a long, deep restorative sleep, a regular sauna is a great addition to a healthy, thriving life. To gain the full benefits of hot-cold exposure, spend up to 10-15 minutes in the sauna, before dipping in the cold plunge or jungle shower - then repeat!
ABOUT FOREST SAUNA
The Forest Sauna, nestled in a secluded spot at Happy River retreat in Wareham Forest came about like so many of the most wonderful things in life do...through inspiration, connection and a good bit of action! Nestled in the idylic setting of Happy River Retreat, Rachel & robbie, the co-founder knew that adding a sauna & plunge - and all the health benefits it offered - to the special spaces already on offer here, was a dream they had to pursue. Now a year old, it's settled into the forest beautifully and continues to evolve.
With a picture window looking out onto the trees beyond, a dedicated changing area, cold plunge & jungle shower, it really is a secluded & unique experience. The sauna is bookable for private hire with your partner, friends or family (up to 8 at any one time) 7 days a week (including early-bird sessions & night-owl evening sauna & special pop up events).

If you like the idea of making sauna a regular part of your week you can join our Forest Sauna Club, launching in July, which gaurantees you two dedicated slots a week & a group of other sauna enthusiasts to meet & team up with on sessions as well as special events & discounts.​
